Connecti-cute: The 4th Best State to Have a Baby

The state is baby-friendly and has great health care for new mothers and infants.

Connecticut ranked as the fourth best state for prospective parents to have a baby in a recent report compiled by WalletHub.

WalletHub conducted their analysis across three dimensions that were equally weighted including budget, health care and baby friendliness of the state.

Connecticut ranked among the top 10 for both health care and baby friendliness coming in at the number six and number four spot respectively.

In the report, Sharon Ramey, Professor of Psychiatry at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, said local governments that create baby-friendly cities give a message to everyone about the value of human capital.

The state has one of the highest average annual infant care costs. However, Ramey said high-quality child care, apart from being one the biggest financial considerations for new parents, is rarely available at a low cost.
