Connecticut National Guard Purchased East Granby Land
The project will build a new gate, visitor center and road network projected to bring in about $7.5 million in federal funding.
From the Connecticut National Guard
Maj. Gen. Thaddeus J. Martin, Connecticut’s Adjutant General and commander of the Connecticut National Guard, announced that the Connecticut Military Department has purchased a 4.52-acre parcel located at 161 Rainbow Road in East Granby.
The property acquisition allows for the addition of a new state-of-the-art main gate entrance for the 103rd Airlift Wing’s Bradley Air National Guard Base. The new main gate addresses access and security shortcomings identified during the 2005 Department of Defense Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRAC) and will help ensure the viability of the Connecticut Air National Guard facility well into the future.
