Connecticut State Police Plan DUI Checkpoints, Roving Patrols
State Police detail when and where the extra patrols and checkpoints will be conducted.

With an eye on the calendar, the Connecticut State Police are adding an extra weekend of additional patrols during this second to last weekend of the summer of 2015.
Many schools around the state have started classes this week, but there is still more than a week until the long Labor Day weekend.

In an effort to continue a safe summer driving season, state troopers will step up patrols Aug. 27-Sept. 2 in anticipation of more drivers on the roads due to school and last minutes vacations or day trips.
Roving patrols from Troop H in Hartford will be monitoring Interstates 84 and 91 in Hartford, West Hartford, East Hartford, Manchester and Windsor.

In the towns of Ashford, Ellington, Mansfield, Somers, Stafford, Tolland, Union, and Willington, roving patrols from Troop C will be on Routes 30, 32, 44, 74, 83, 190 and 195, as well as Interstate 84.
“Troopers are standing by to eliminate dangerous drivers from Connecticut roads and highways,” noted Colonel Brian Meraviglia, Commanding Officer of the Connecticut State Police. “As the summer season ends, troopers will be especially vigilant to find and remove drunk drivers, as well as those who defy the cell phone prohibition. Both of these violations are illegal and dangerous to all who travel our roadways.”
