Granby Man Identified As Driver In Fatal Crash

Granby police have identified the victim of a fatal crash on North Granby Road Friday night as Granby resident Todd Kittelsen, 47.

Granby Police have identified the driver killed in a crash on North Granby Road Friday night as Todd Kittelsen, 47,  of Granby. 

The Granby Police and Fire departments are working with the state Department of Transportation and the North Central Municipal Regional Accident Reconstruction Team to investigate the crash.

At approximately 8:05 p.m., police arrived at the scene on North Granby Road just north of Day Street, according to a police press release.  The site is not far from Kittelsen's home at 278 North Granby Road.

A preliminary investigation showed Kittelsen's Ford pickup truck, traveling south, veered across the northbound lane, where it struck several wooden guard posts and then a tree on the east side of the roadway.

The Granby Ambulance and Lost Acres Fire Department arrived to perform a vehicle extraction, but paramedics pronounced Kittelsen dead at the scene.

His body has been transported to the Medical Examiner's office in Farmington for a post-mortem examination.

Police are requesting any witnesses to the crash to call Granby Police Officer Scott Bergeron, 860-844-5334.
