Potential CREC Marine Science Magnet High School Informational Meeting on May 29th

Attention East Granby residents; the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) has expressed informal interest in building a Marine Science Magnet High School in East Granby.  This discussion was initiated by CREC.  The 78 acre parcel that CREC is considering for a potential school is located off of Spoonville Road. There will be an informational meeting held by CREC to discuss their intentions with residents at 7 pm on Thursday, May 29th.  The meeting will be held at the East Granby High School Auditorium.

Please note that these discussions are at the preliminary stage and there is no formal proposal from CREC. The parcel abuts the Farmington River which CREC considers important to the curriculum for a Marine Sciences High School. If in the future CREC decided to make a formal proposal there would be a transparent and open process with public hearings conducted through the Planning and Zoning Commission.  At this point residents are invited to a strictly informational meeting on the 29th to learn more about CREC’s potential plans and to ask questions and provide feedback.
