CT Water: East Granby Customers Safe from Contaminants
Connecticut Water officials responded to reports of contamination levels discovered in other parts of the state.

Connecticut Water officials on Friday said its sources are safe and do not show higher-level traces of contaminants that might be plaguing reservoirs in other parts of the state.
The utility manages the drinking water for nearly 90,000 customers — about 300,000 people — in 56 towns in Connecticut. East Granby is in the coverage area.
A report from the Environmental Working Group this week tracked 93 contaminants across the state's fresh water supply, and found 11 harmful contaminants in drinking water.

In all, 10 of the contaminants were detected above health limits, and two of the contaminants were measured above legal limits in many drinking water sources. The contaminants were linked to cancer, developmental issues in children, problems in pregnancy and other serious conditions.
Connecticut Water spokesman Dan Meaney said the utility's water quality experts traced the level of all 11 contaminants. They reported that the readings fall way short of levels that would require a warning, he said.
