In addition to recognizing the essay contest winners the chapter presented their Outstanding Teacher of American History Award to Ms. Susan Rosenstein, an American History teacher at East Granby Middle School. Mrs. Rosenstein was recognized for her commitment to involving her students in activities that challenge them to make meaningful connections between the events of the past and their own lives. She creates opportunities for them to go beyond the walls of their classroom to participate in community projects, including a recycling program, food pantry, and a Veterans Day ceremony. Ms. Rosenstein does extensive volunteer work and is an excellent role model for students. The Abigail Phelps Chapter is proud to honor her and is grateful for her commitment to championing the cause of American History and related subjects in our schools.
