Leading vehicle emissions equipment and services provider Environmental Systems Products Holdings Inc reaches agreement with Opus, U.S. to sell its ESP business unit.

The following is a press release from Environmental Systems Products Holdings Inc.

East Granby-based Environmental Systems Products Holdings Inc. (ESPH), parent company of Envirotest Systems Corp. (Envirotest) and Environmental Systems Products, Inc. (ESP) announced Dec. 16 that it has entered into an agreement to sell 100 percent of its ESP shares to the U.S. subsidiary of Opus Prodox AB (Opus Group).

ESP provides equipment and services in open market decentralized vehicle emissions testing programs in the U.S., Mexico and Ontario, Canada.

ESPH will continue to operate and manage all eight of Envirotest’s centralized emissions inspection programs. The company will also continue to provide program management services in both centralized and decentralized vehicle emissions testing markets, vehicle information database services and Remote Sensing Device services.

“This divestiture represents an important next step in our strategy to expand applications of our unique Remote Sensing Device technology across all vehicle emissions inspection markets.” stated ESPH President and CEO Mark San Fratello. “This action also allows for greater focus on providing world class service to our centralized market customers” he added.

The company expects the transaction to be complete within the next thirty days.
