East Granby Child Among Those Hurt in Route 6 Head-On Crash
A tractor-trailer and car collided on Route 6 Thursday.

COVENTRY, CT — A 6-year-old child and the driver of a car from East Granby were injured in a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer along a stretch of Route 6 Thursday, police said.
The crash took place at 3:52 p.m. on Route 6 near the intersection of South Street, police said.
The car was a Ford Taurus, according to a report.

The operator of the Ford, 39-year-old Antonio Sanchez of East Granby, was taken by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital after a "prolonged extrication" from the vehicle as was in critical condition on Thursday night, police said.
The operator of the tractor trailer was identified as David Giaique, 60 of Wooster OH. He was not injured, police said.

The child was was transported by ambulance to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. The child is reported to be in stable condition, according to a police.
Route 6 was closed until about 11 p.m., police said.
