East Granby Obituary: Michael Spinnato, Jr., 73

Michael Angelo Spinnato, Jr., 73, of East Granby, beloved husband for 35 years of Jane (Paull) Spinnato, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 11, 2017, surrounded by his family at his home.

Born in Hartford on June 8, 1944, son of the late Michael Angelo and Jennie (Laiuppa) Spinnato, he was raised in Bloomfield and attended Bloomfield Public Schools, and had lived in Granby before moving to East Granby 30 years ago. Michael worked as a truck driver for over 31 years at Plimpton Hills in Hartford. He loved his work and retired in 2010 only due to his illness.

Michael was a meticulous person in all aspects of his life. He spent hours caring for his yard and his home and fixed anything that broke immediately. Since he was a young man growing up in Bloomfield, he always loved his cars and motorcycles and detailed them often so that they always looked in showroom condition.

Michael was always up for anything and enjoyed riding ATV’s and snowmobiles with his family and friends, taking a ride on his Harley or spending time with his family at the beach. He loved animals, especially dogs and will be greatly missed by his Shih tzu, Coco. Most of all, Michael loved the simple pleasures in life, meeting friends at John Brown’s in Bloomfield Center, spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, taking a trip to the casino or to his daughter and son-in-law’s boat, or just relaxing at home.

As he got older, Michael’s hair turned a silvery gray earning him the nickname, “Silver Fox.” He was a member of the former Elks Lodge in Windsor, #2060 and currently was a member of the Elks Lodge in Manchester, #1893.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Michael Angelo Spinnato, III and his significant other, Lori Calvert of Salem; a daughter, Laura (Spinnato) Luisi and her husband Joseph of West Hartford; a brother, Salvatore Spinnato of Phoenix, AZ; and two grandchildren, Miana Marie Spinnato and Zac Calvert both of Salem.

His family will receive friends on Friday, December 15, 4-7 p.m., at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Family and friends may gather on Saturday, December 16, 9 a.m., at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church in Bloomfield. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
