
Reverend Aubrey L. Murphy, 97 of East Granby, beloved husband of the late Adah (Spears) Murphy, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at home surrounded by his family.
Born in Nova Scotia, Canada, son of William and Lydia (Spinney) Murphy, he was raised there and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during W.W. II. Rev. Murphy received his Bachelor of Divinity from Acadia University and his Master's in Christian Education from Hartford Seminary Foundation and came to the United States where he served churches in New Britain, Westport, Old Saybrook, North Greenwich, Alberta Canada, and for 21 years served as Associate Minister for the First Congregational Church of Bristol. He was honored with the title Associate Minister Emeritus from the church upon his retirement. He has been a member of the East Granby Congregational Church for the past 18 years that he has lived in the community.
He leaves his daughter Adah M. Dionne of East Granby; two grandchildren Nolan Dionne (Merritt) and Krista Dionne; and a sister Marjorie Modoono of Lexington, MA. Besides his wife he was predeceased by two brothers Russell and Victor Murphy.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, at 3 pm at the East Granby Congregational Church, The Reverend Denise Terry, Pastor will officiate. Burial will be private.
