East Granby Obituary: Rollin Cowles, 68

Condolences to his family and friends.

Rollin W. Cowles, 68, of East Granby, beloved husband of Sally (Dickey) Cowles, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017 at his home.

Born in Hartford, son of the late Albert P. and Doris (Carruthers) Cowles, he was a life-long resident of East Granby, living as the 6th generation of his family in the family home on Spoonville Road. Rollin served in the US Army in Vietnam and retired from the CT Natural Gas Corp where he also served as Shop Steward for the CNG Union.

Besides his wife of 42 years, Sally; he leaves a son Andrew M. Cowles of East Granby; a daughter Caroline C. Cowles of Danbury; his beloved grandson Wyatt M. Snyder; two brothers Robert Cowles of PA and Dexter Cowles and his wife Lori of FL; three sisters Deborah Harriman (Edward) of VA, Marsha Sung (Philip), and Myra Doughney both of East Granby; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Cynthia and Patricia Cowles and Phyllis Grover.

His family will receive friends Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 12:30-2 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 2 PM in the Chapel of the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor. The Rev. Denise Terry will officiate. A Committal Service will be held Monday, October 16, 2017 at the Columbarium at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown, at 1pm followed by military honors.

Contributions may be made to Vets Aid, 220 1 Street NE, Suite 110, Washington, DC 20002, to benefit homeless veterans.
