East Granby Ranked 82nd, Granby 200th Best Place To Live in CT: Report
A new report lists the top 268 places to live in Connecticut and the rankings are surprising in some cases.

We love rankings, well, because you love rankings. Whether it be the best schools, best places to live, or whatever it is, everyone loves to talk and debate the latest rankings.
“HomeSnack,” which is two bloggers that analyze the best places to live in the United States, have come up with their latest ranking called “These Are The 10 Best Places To Live In Connecticut According to Science.”

They say they’ve analyzed 268 communities in Connecticut using only science to guide their rankings.
HomeSnack says it’s combed through FBI data, studied weather patterns, education records, unemployment rate, income levels, and even short commute times to shape their list.

They do admit that they gave more weight to communities with larger populations believing there is more to do in bigger communities, which improves the overall quality of life.
According to their list, Orange is the best place to live in Connecticut, followed by Mansfield Center and also part of the top 10 include: Woodbridge, Wallingford, Rocky Hill, and West Hartford.
But where this list seems a little unrealistic is New Canaan is ranked No. 11, but in the you can’t make this up category, Greenwich, which is usually considered one of, if not the the top place to live in Connecticut, is ranked all the way down at No. 148.
Some other head scratchers include: Simsbury at No. 51, Farmington at No. 64, and Avon at No. 76, and Canton at No 84.
But here is what HomeSnack says in its ranking of East Granby and Granby.
East Granby has 5,055 residents, the median household income is $73,074, and the average commute time is just over 23 minutes.
East Granby spends $16,885 per student for education costs, there are 190 sunny days, the unemployment rate is 5.7 percent, the vacancy rate is 3.48 percent, and the East Granby crime score is 39.3.
Granby has 11,243 residents, the median household income is $97,851, and the average commute time is just over 28 minutes.
