East Granby Scholastic Teams Still Fighting for State Tournament Berths

EAST GRANBY, CT — As the high school regular season nears an end, a number of soccer, field hockey and volleyball teams from Hartford and Tolland counties are still trying to qualify for state tournament competition.

Teams which compile a 40 percent or better winning percentage make it to the postseason.

Here are the area teams still looking to make it into the tournament brackets, with class, current record, games remaining and what they need to qualify.

BOYS SOCCER

• Avon (LL), 4-8-2, two games left, must win both
• Enfield (LL), 4-9-1, two games left, must win both
• Cheney Tech (L), 5-8-2, one game left, must tie or win
• Newington (L), 4-7-3, two games left, need one win or two ties
• Bristol Eastern (L), 4-8-3, one game left, must win
• Plainville (M), 5-7-2, two games left, need at least one tie
• Rocky Hill (M), 5-7-2, two games left, need at least one tie
• Northwest Catholic (M), 4-8-1, three games left, need two wins or a win and two ties
• MLC (S), 5-8-2, one game left, must tie or win
• East Granby (S), 5-9, two games left, need a win and tie

GIRLS SOCCER

• East Hartford (LL), 5-7-2, two games left, need at least one tie
• Conard (LL), 4-6-4, two games left, need at least one tie
• Simsbury (LL), 3-6-5, two games left, need one win or two ties
• Bristol Central (L), 5-9, two games left, need a win and tie
• Plainville (M), 4-8-2, two games left, must win both
• East Granby (S), 4-8-2, two games left, must win both
• Windsor Locks (S), 3-8-3, two games left, must win both

FIELD HOCKEY

• E.O. Smith (M), 4-9-1, two games left, must win both
• Suffield (S), 6-9, one game left, must tie or win
• East Catholic (S), 4-9, three games left, need two wins and a tie
• Northwest Catholic (S), 2-8-3, three games left, must win all

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
