East Granby Schools Give Familiar Leader A Bigger Role

EAST GRANBY, CT — East Granby Public Schools has appointed Joshua T. Martin as chief operating officer, expanding his responsibilities to include the district’s facilities, transportation, business operations, human resources and food services.

Martin will continue leading Student Support Services while assuming the operational portfolio, according to an announcement posted Monday by the district.

Superintendent Suzanne M. Palmieri said Martin brings a combination of systems expertise and experience supporting students and families. “Josh understands systems—but he also understands people,” Palmieri said.

Martin’s career includes more than eight years in the U.S. Air Force as a munitions systems specialist, including overseas deployments in support of major military operations, the district said. He later worked in classroom, special education and district leadership roles in Hebron, East Haddam and East Granby.

He holds Superintendent Certification from the University of Connecticut. Martin is also president-elect of the Connecticut Council of Administrators of Special Education and was recently appointed by Gov. Ned Lamont to the state’s Blue-Ribbon Commission on K–12 Education Funding and Accountability, the district said.

Martin has served as East Granby’s director of student support services. The COO appointment gives him a wider role in the daily operations that support the district’s schools.
