East Granby Selected for Solarize CT Program
The Solarize program is expanding to Suffield, East Granby, Windsor, Windsor Locks area; will offer discounts to participating residents.

Announcement from Solarize Connecticut.
The Towns of East Granby, Suffield, Windsor, and Windsor Locks have been selected to participate in a unique solar discount program that makes going solar easy and affordable. The Solarize East Granby-Suffield-Windsor-Windsor Locks program will kick off with a workshop on Tuesday, December 2 at 7 p.m., at Sage Park Middle School, 25 Sage Park Road, Windsor, CT Residents can learn about the program and meet their pre-selected solar installer, C-TEC Solar. The towns will join 11 other communities in Phase 5 of Solarize Connecticut with a goal to more than double the amount of solar currently in each town over the 18-week program. Over 40 communities have already participated in Solarize campaigns, with over 2,000 homeowners signing contracts for solar.
Solarize is a unique program offered by the Clean Energy Finance and Investment Authority, now known as the Connecticut Green Bank, in partnership with SmartPower, that increases residential solar through a proven formula. It leverages group discounts through a pre-selected installer to reduce the cost of solar; it includes a tiered pricing structure, so the more residents sign up, the lower the cost for everyone, no matter when they sign a contract; it relies on the community to provide outreach and education to create awareness and build interest, and it promotes a clear end date that motivates residents to act. Over the past several weeks officials from the four towns have been interviewing installers and announced recently they have formally selected C-TEC Solar to be part of Solarize East Granby-Suffield-Windsor-Windsor Locks program and do all of the towns’ solar installations.

Solar energy has proven to offer several benefits including reduced utility bills and energy independence. I encourage you to attend one of the public events that will occur in the coming weeks to learn more about this great opportunity to purchase solar equipment for your home.”

“As East Granby’s First Selectman, I am pleased to announce that our community has joined with the adjoining towns of Suffield, Windsor and Windsor Locks to participate in the Solarize CT project. This program is wholly endorsed by the Town of East Granby and it will offer our residents a chance to learn more about renewable solar energy. This program also will allow residents to benefit from immediate savings and reductions in their monthly electric bills. I encourage all of East Granby’s homeowners to attend one of the public events which will occur over the next twenty weeks to evaluate the benefits of this rare opportunity. This is a residential program but business owners are welcome as well to see the benefits of solar and to ask how they might participate. East Granby has been involved in a number of energy initiatives in the past and Solarize CT reflects the Town’s efforts to improve resident’s quality of life by promoting clean energy at a reduced cost,” stated Jim Hayden, East Granby’s First Selectman.
