There will be a Special East Granby Town Meeting to be held at the Senior/Community Center on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 7:30 pm. The Town Meeting will consider and act up a list of capital projects submitted and approved by the Boards of Education, Selectman and Finance. These capital appropriation requests are not additional expenditures but rather they access funds that have already been approved in the annual budget by residents at referendum. When specific capital projects are put forward by the policy boards, the Town Meeting then acts upon the appropriation request. The Town Meeting will also act upon the closeout of completed capital accounts as approved by the Board of Finance.
The Board of Selectman (BOS) is presenting two capital appropriation requests at the Town Meeting. The BOS is requesting sums not to exceed $176,083 for Road Maintenance and $175,000 to purchase and equip a plow truck.
The Board of Education (BOE) is presenting eight capital appropriation requests at the Town Meeting. The BOE is requesting sums not to exceed $90,000 for school technology, $78,285 for school security, $15,998 for the Municipal Inter-local Risk Management Agency (MIRMA) Assessment, $9732 for the Phase II Tech Ed redesign, $6721 to complete the Phase II Classroom conversion, $8,000 to complete the Phase I electrical system upgrade of the Tech Ed room, $18,155 for carpet replacement at the Middle School and $21,025 to purchase and equip a multi-purpose tractor for the Middle/High School.
