GRANBY, CT — A group calling itself the “Free America Walkout” is planning a protest in Granby on Tuesday, according to an online event listing.

Organizers describe the event as a coordinated walkout and protest aimed at opposing what they characterize as rising authoritarianism under President Donald Trump’s second term. The listing calls on participants to leave work, school, or daily routines as a form of protest and to engage in community organizing and mutual aid efforts.

The “Free America Walkout” is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 20, from 2 to 4 p.m., according to the posting. The listed location is along Connecticut Route 20 and Route 202 in Granby.

The event description says the walkout is intended to disrupt “the normal routines of power” and frames the gathering as both a protest and a commitment to continued activism. “We are aware of the matter and are evaluating it,” Captain Kurt LaFlamme of the Granby Police Department said in an email to Patch.
