Free Vision Checks For Kids Offered In Granby

The free walk-in event will take place Saturday morning at the Farmington Valley YMCA.

GRANBY, CT — The Granby Lions Club will host a free children’s vision screening event this weekend, giving local families a simple way to check for potential vision issues early.

The screening is scheduled for Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Farmington Valley YMCA. It is open to preschool and elementary-aged children, including those who are homeschooled or attend private schools.

Organizers said the screening is quick and painless, taking only seconds to complete. It requires no physical contact, no eye drops and no appointment, allowing families to walk in at any time during the event window.

Using specialized technology, the screening may help detect common vision concerns such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, amblyopia (lazy eye) and eye alignment issues.

The Lions Club has long provided screenings in local schools, and this event expands access to children who may not otherwise receive routine vision checks.
