Fundraiser Started For Victims Of Granby House Fire
A GoFundMe has been started for a family who lost their home and two dogs in a fire Wednesday.
GRANBY, CT — A fundraiser has been started to benefit the victims of a Granby house fire. Theresa Smith is organizing the fundraiser on behalf of her sister and niece, who lost their home and all of their belongings when a fire broke out.
"They are safe," Smith wrote, "however, they lost both of their dogs to the fire and absolutely every single thing they had, besides the clothes they were wearing. As a family and a community, we can rally around them and do whatever we can to help them get back on their feet and help them process this tragic unexpected loss."
Route 10 in Granby was closed Wednesday morning from Route 20 to Mechanicsville Road for a structure fire in the 300 block of Salmon Brook Street. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire at a single-family house on Route 10.

A passing driver who noticed smoke coming from the windows reported the blaze at 8:15 a.m.
The residents were not home at the time. However, police said two dogs died in the fire.
Smith wrote on the GoFundMe page: "If you are willing to donate clothing, gift cards, etc., they are greatly appreciated and can be dropped of at our dear friends at Route 10 Tire. Roger has graciously offered his business to help us as a centralized drop-off location for the community donations."
