Get the Perfect Present at the Granby Artists Holiday Gift Show
Proceeds will be donated back to Holcomb Farm, while Santa will make an appearance later in the day.
Searching for a gift for the holidays that’s creative and helps out a good cause, all while taking in a festive community atmosphere?
Well, you can find that shopping perfect storm at the Granby Artists Holiday Gift Show, which is being held today at from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The works of 12 local artists, including Avis Cherichetti, Linda Yurasevecz, Laura Eden, Debby Reelitz, Robin Sidwell, Matt Ryan and Fran Miller, will be on sale in various media such as pottery, jewelry, cartooning, calligraphy and photographs, all ranging in size and prices.
Twenty percent of the proceeds from the sales of the works will be donated back to Holcomb Farm.
In addition, Postcards to Granby from the town’s 225th celebration are also on sale for $5. The proceeds from those sales go to the Kittlesen Children Educational Fund. According to the GAA’s website, “Todd Kittlesen, a woodworker, had just become a member of Granby Artists this spring before he died. This fund benefits his three children.” Those who purchase postcards have the option of donating them back to the Salmon Brook Historical Society.
The gift show, a two-day event that opened yesterday, also featured music by music teachers Sarah Warner and Chris Cochoran and their students (listed below) from Kelly Lane and Wells Road and Laura Mazza Dixon's Suzuki guitar students on Saturday.
Today, there will be a carol sing and a visit from Santa, as well as a tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m.
Soup will also be served from the Lost Acres Orchard.
The gift show is an event that is near and dear to Cherichetti’s heart.
“It brings together a lot of community,” Cherichetti said noting all the different groups of people who are taking part in the event. “That’s what’s great about this event is bringing together so many different parts of the community.”
It also doesn’t hurt that what’s for sale is beautiful.
Lorelei Chang was spotted talking to Reelitz about her calligraphy T-shirts (“Whoever Smiles Wins.”)
“I love [Reelitz’s] work and I love her as a person,” Chang said. “It’s just something different and special.”
