Girl Injured By Falling Tree at Granby Game Refuge

She was transported via Lifestar helicopter to Hartford Hospital with serious injuries.

GRANBY, CT — A 10-year-old girl was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon when a tree fell on her while she was hiking at a popular game refuge.

Granby police, fire and EMS units responded to McLean Game Refuge at 1:57 p.m. for reports of an injured child. The girl was hiking with four other children and two adults as part of a birthday party when a tree fell onto the path as the child passed beneath, striking her, Capt. William Tyler said.

The girl sustained serious injuries and was transported by Lifestar medical helicopter to Hartford Hospital. Her condition is unknown.
