Good Company Theater Takes Center Stage

Local theater group entertains crowd at community dinner.

Young and old were delighted when Good Company Theater sang carols at South Church's weekly dinner.

Santa (a.k.a. Cliff Gibson) made an appearance and all were offered a chance to bend his ear with their wishes.

Good Company Theater in Granby has a lot to brag about these days.  Housed in the South Church facilities, the independent theater group has certainly come a long way in a short amount of time.

The origin of Good Company evolved with the core group of Reverand Denny Moon, of South Church, his wife Sally Moon and Nikki Currie Huggard

Chair of Good Company Theater, Deb Torgersen, has been with the group from the very first show, "Godspell", which took place last spring.  "It's been very rewarding work, both in terms of getting Good Company Theater off the ground as well as giving the community some great entertainment!"

Other shows include, "Our Town", which was produced this fall under the direction of Nikki Currie Huggard.  It ran the weekend before Thanksgiving  and was a "wonderful start to the holiday season, reminding us that every moment of our lives is precious, no matter how ordinary it may seem" according to Vice Chair Gretchen Sausville.

"The Last Five Years" will be the next show for this group.  It will take place February 10th, 12th and 13th.  It is a two person musical told in a time-line fashion about a young couple.  It is very unique in that the two are never on stage together, except for one scene.

Good Company Theater is always looking for volunteers and players for their group.   "I had no idea how much effort and energy is needed of so many volunteers to make these shows happen," Deb Torgersen said.

Most of their members wear many hats in order to have a successful production.

The organization is aiming to put on two productions a year.  A fall play and spring musical.  This spring they have their sights set on Annie as a possible production.
