Granby Alum Named WPI Female Student-Athlete of Week

The former volleyball standout for the Bears had three double-doubles last week for the Engineers.

WORCESTER, MA — A former volleyball standout at Granby Memorial High School has been named the Female Student-Athlete of the Week at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Casey Hunt, a 5-foot-9 sophomore, received the honor for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 25.

Hunt handed in three double-doubles in four matches last week. Her season-highs of 19 kills and 18 digs helped key the Engineers' 3-2 road victory at Coast Guard. The triumph was also the second in program history over the Bears.

Earlier in the week, Hunt totaled 18 digs and 11 kills against Emerson, and added 10 kills and 12 digs versus Wellesley.

A 2015 Granby graduate, Hunt led the Bears to the Class M state title in 2014 with a perfect 24-0 record. The team lost just five games all season.

In her high school career, Hunt was named Player of the Match on 16 occasions.
