The Granby Democratic Town Committee (DTC) announced the results of the Democratic Caucus and slate of candidates for the fall municipal elections. Held at Holcomb Farm on July 20, the 2017 Democratic Caucus had the highest caucus turnout in memory. “Democrats are energized, and we have a strong team that is excited and ready to lead our community,” said Jim Lofink, DTC Chair. “We will run campaigns focused on transparent, data-driven government.”
Of particular excitement are the contested races for Board of Education (BOE), where three Caucus-endorsed candidates -- Kim Becker, Brandon Webster, and Valorie Hollister -- are poised to give Democrats a majority on the Granby BOE. Each of these candidates are excited to give back to the system they know so well as parents of Granby students, and each brings unique strengths and skill sets that will invigorate our schools and bring increased transparency to the BOE.
The Caucus enthusiastically endorsed incumbents Sally King and Jim Lofink as their candidates for continued service on the Board of Selectman. Sally and Jim’s proven leadership, commitment to accountability, and experience in building collaborative frameworks position them to continue to help make Granby a stronger community.

Democrats supported continued terms for Dr. Fred Moffa for the Board of Finance, Planning and Zoning Commissioners Peggy Chapple and Eric Lukingbeal, and Planning and Zoning Alternate Christine Chinni. Dr. Moffa brings years of BOF experience, and the latter three are local lawyers, each with considerable experience in municipal affairs and a commitment to the unique agricultural and environmental characteristics that make Granby “The Pride of the Valley”.
The endorsed candidate for the Zoning Board of Appeals is Wayne Chapple, and candidates for the Zoning Board of Appeals Alternates include David Hennessey and Suzanne Yucha. All are currently serving admirably in these positions. Such experience allows for a better understanding of the regulations and considerations important to appeal cases. The Board of Assessment Appeals nomination is public service newcomer Daniel Chapple, who brings valuable professional experience to this position.
