Granby, East Granby Dads Can Fish for Free on Father's Day

Licenses are free for Sunday under a special promotion.

Local dads can fish for free in Connecticut's waterways on Sunday in a special Father’s Day promotion by the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

DEEP officials said on Friday that the Connecticut River should be "quite fishable" this weekend.

"Flows continue to clear and have dropped steadily from last week’s difficult-to-fish-and-boat levels, and are now a bit below typical mid-June levels," DEEP officials said in the weekly fishing report.

Schoolie striped bass were being found throughout the river, with some spotty action for keepers being reported, according to the weekly report.
