Granby Memorial Alum Wins College Football Honor

The former Bear standout earned Rookie of the Week honors in the Liberty League.

WORCESTER, MA — A West Granby resident attending Worcester Polytechnic Institute has been named Liberty League Football Rookie of the Week.

Running back Connor Field amassed 114 all-purpose yards and added a touchdown as the Crimson and Gray defeated RPI 19-7 Saturday to reclaim the Transit Trophy. The freshman tailback sealed the victory with a 11-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter. Field also hauled in a team-best three receptions for 41 yards and returned a pair of kickoffs 47 yards.

The 2016 graduate of Granby Memorial High School, an All-State selection as a senior, is the second-leading rusher for the Engineers, totaling 219 yards on 49 carries in six games, averaging 4.5 yards per attempt.
