The girls Volleyball team at GMHS is truly having an unbelievable season. A lot people knew that they had the potential to have a successful season but I don’t think anyone thought they would have a chance at a perfect season through 18 games.
The Lady Bears find themselves the #1 team in the NCCC and Class M at a perfect 18-0. They are also ranked the 4th best team in the state of Connecticut. The Lady Bears rely heavily on the senior class this year. Led by senior captains Colleen Longley, Kaylee Jerman, and Casey Hunt, they have managed to only drop 3 sets through their first 18 games.

Other key players in Coach Sprowson’s rotation are Cali Holt, Emily Betterton, Molly Hammack, and Shannon Ryan, all of who are seniors. These girls have been playing together for most of their volleyball careers, establishing great communication and team chemistry along the way. This is their last year playing volleyball at a high school level, so all of the players are hungry for a chance at a state title.
The Bears have to win their last 2 regular season games in order to complete their perfect season. They take on a tough Coventry squad (17-2) at 5:30 on Monday, October 27 on their home court. Then they travel to Ellington on Wednesday to play their last regular season game against the Knights.
