Granby Memorial High School Wins College Success Award
The award from GreatSchools means the school has a good track record of graduating students that are ready for college.
GRANBY, CT — Granby Memorial High School won a 2019 College Success Award from GreatSchools. The school was among 41 in Connecticut to win the award. The awards were given to high schools across 25 states that provide public data on student achievement. The award is given to schools that have a good track record of graduating students who go on to enroll in two or four-year colleges and make it to at least the second year of college.
"Congratulations to these Connecticut high schools for adopting the practices necessary to prepare their students to graduate, attend college and perform and achieve at the college level,” State Department of Education Commissioner Diane Wentzell said.
The number of students who have college and career readiness increased for the second year in a row according to the state's Next Generation Accountability system. The system takes into account if students have taken college readiness courses and have reached benchmark scores on college/career readiness exams. It also counts if students enroll in a two or four year post-secondary education a year after they graduate high school.
