Granby Memorial Stays In Top 10 of Field Hockey Poll

Not since the three-peat state championship seasons of 1992, 1993 and 1994 has the Enfield High School field hockey program been at the top of the mountain...until now.

As the lone remaining undefeated, untied team in Connecticut, the Eagles garnered four of eight first-place votes to claim the peak position in the latest weekly state coaches poll. Greenwich and Darien each received a pair of first-place votes.

Enfield (11-0), which moved up from the No. 2 ranking last week, has overwhelmed opponents by an incredible 52-1 scoring margin this season.

Granby Memorial (11-1) placed 10th in the most recent balloting. The Bears have tallied 46 goals this season, while allowing just five.

Here are the top 10, plus all other schools getting votes, with records through Oct. 18:

Also receiving votes: South Windsor (9-1-1), Guilford (9-2-1), Immaculate (11-1-1-1), Pomperaug (11-1-2), Staples (9-2-0-1).
