Granby Names New Public Works Director
Town Manager William F. Smith, Jr. announced that he has appointed Kirk Severance as Granby's Director of Public Works.

Town Manager William F. Smith, Jr. announced that he has appointed Kirk Severance as Granby’s Director of Public Works.
He served as Deputy Director of Operations in Granby for seven years and has been with the Department of Public Works since 1984. Mr. Severance maintains several certifications relating to roads, hazard communications tree-warden, and an environmental protection-certificate to operate a landfill or transfer station.

He was the successful candidate following a statewide search. The official position start date was October 27, 2014. Kirk grew up in Granby, attended Granby schools, and has been active in many local organizations. His responsibilities as Director include supervise, plan and direct the operations of Public Works, along with vehicle and equipment maintenance, highway
and park maintenance, building and grounds maintenance, sewer maintenance, administering contracted refuse and recycling programs, and to directly handle responsibilities of any public works project.
Town Manager William F. Smith, Jr., says, “He is pleased to have him on board and looks forward to working with him as Public Works Director.”
