
Arvid Thomas Torgersen, 84, of Little River, SC, formerly of Granby, beloved husband of the late Greta (Kittelsen) Torgersen, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital.
Born in Klepp Egersound, Norway to the late Anna (Salthe) and Thomas Torgersen, he was raised in Brooklyn, NY and lived most of his life in Granby and Little River, SC. Tom served his country proudly with the US Air Force during the Korean War and worked as a sector manager for the Federal Aviation Administration for 35 years. He was a member of the Granby Lions Club and the Sons of Norway and was an avid golfer and fisherman in his spare time.
He is survived by his sons Ted Torgersen and his wife JoAnn of Windsor, Eric Torgersen and his wife Deborah of Southwick, MA; and his daughter Vivian Collins of Granby; his sisters Norma McGrath of Brooklyn, NY and Linda Fredricksen and her husband Larry of West Milford, NJ; his grandchildren Christina and her husband Sean, Ryan, Kirsten, Adam and Valerie; and his great granddaughter Alexa.

A memorial service will be held at 6 PM, Monday, July 18 at the Hayes Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St. Granby. His family will receive friends prior to the service from 4 PM to 6 PM. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
