Granby Obituary: Barbara Skiest, 71

Barbara (Walker) Keating Skiest, 71, of Cary, NC formerly of Granby, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2016.

Daughter of the late Henry Walker and Bernice Moon, she was born in Williamstown, MA on December 7, 1944. After graduating from Williamstown High School, Barbara attended a school for secretaries in the medical field. She later moved to Connecticut where she worked as a server at Friendly’s restaurant and then for Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks.

Barbara married her beloved husband Alan L. Skiest in 1994, and the happy couple settled in Florida and eventually relocated to Cary, NC.

In addition to her husband, she leaves her children, Andrew Keating of Granby, Rob Keating of Granby, Beth Clauson of Tolland; five step-sons, two grandchildren, and 12 step-grandchildren. Barbara also leaves her sister, Jacqueline Treybal of Sherborn, VT and a brother, Joel Walker of Granby.

Family and friends may call on Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. at Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby, CT 06035. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home and private burial will be held at the convenience of her family.
