
Brian Scott Saunders, 54, of North Granby, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016, surrounded by his family at his home.
Born in Hartford on August 2, 1961, son of Richard Thomas and Beverly (Stevenson) Saunders, he was a lifelong resident of Granby and was a graduate of Granby Memorial High School, Class of 1979. Brian was a great athlete and during high school he played soccer and baseball and was a member of the ski club at Granby High.
Brian worked at Simscroft-Echo Farms in Simsbury and at Meyer Rigging, before starting his career in the construction industry. Brian loved carpentry and was known for his skill and his attention to detail. Most recently, he worked for Hal Pierce, Jr. Construction, HPJ in Granby. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching his favorite football team, the New England Patriots and and watching auto racing including modified and stock cars.

Besides his parents, Richard and Beverly Saunders of North Granby, he leaves a daughter, Shannon Saunders and her fiancé Kevin Meegan of Tariffville; his wife, Elizabeth (Cory) Saunders of Southwick, MA; a brother, Robert A. Saunders and his wife Karen of Granby; two sisters, Heidi Hahn and her husband David of Havelock, NC and Wendy Kelley and her husband Charles of Hebron; two nephews; and five nieces.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 28, 1 p.m., at South Congregational Church, 242 Salmon Brook St., Granby. Burial will be private.
