
Elaine M. Hammick, 53, of North Granby, died peacefully on January 16, 2016 after a courageous battle with bile duct cancer.
She was born on November 21, 1962 in Attleboro, Massachusetts and grew up in Foxboro Massachusetts, home of the New England Patriots. Elaine attended the University of Hartford College of Engineering where she graduated first in her engineering class and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering in 1984. She then attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she received a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering in 1987.
She worked as a consulting environmental engineer for nine years for Environmental Risk Limited in Bloomfield. She has worked for the past 19 years for ABB in Windsor, most recently as the Director of Environmental Engineering and Sustainability. For ABB, she worked on cleanup of major hazardous waste sites all over the United States. Elaine was most proud of the work she did to clean up the former Combustion Engineering Site in Windsor.

In her personal life, Elaine was a long time supporter of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, UConn women’s basketball and women’s softball. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed travel, especially to Cape Cod, Florida and the Caribbean. She loved the beach. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years and loved to watch her daughters ride horses and play softball.
Elaine is survived by her devoted husband Jeffrey and her two wonderful daughters, Kristen Hammick and Sara Hammick, also of North Granby. She is also survived by her father, William Mulford of Foxboro, MA, sister Linda Tibbetts and husband Frank of Plainville, MA, sister Lorraine McMahon and husband John of Fairport, NY along with her father and mother in law, Thomas and Denise Hammick of Simsbury, sister in law Janine Porter and husband Scott of Simsbury, sister in law Michele Garger and husband Walter of Farmington, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at St. Therese Church, 120 West Granby Rd., Granby. Her family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby.
