
Joanne H. Matt, 71, of Simsbury, loving wife of 33 years to George R. Matt, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 25, 2016.
She was the daughter the late Joseph and Hedwig Teresczak, she grew up and lived in Granby until graduating from Granby High School. Thereon, she graduated from Clark University under a full scholarship. She began her career with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals; was a school teacher, VP of Welcome Matt Realtor and a devoted mother and home maker.
She was a voracious reader with a sharp intellect, lover of the ocean, movies, with a big sweet tooth who cared deeply for animals, especially her dogs Sammy the biter, Skeeter the rocket, Skippy the pig and don Juan Rex. She loved the Yankees and swanned for Graig Nettles and Derek Jeter. UConn woman’s basketball was her passion and motivation for putting up with Connecticut winters. She was also a 15 year member of the Prince Thomas of Savoy Society.

A loving wife and widow to her first husband Thomas Marchewka, Joanne leaves behind her beloved children, Brandon and Darren, husband George, and many other relations near and far.
Joanne’s funeral mass will be held Saturday, May 28th, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 942 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury, followed by a reception at the parish center.
