Granby Obituary: Kathleen Spring, 65

Condolences to her family and friends.

Kathleen (Werth) Spring, 65, of Granby, beloved wife for 46 years of Donald Powers Spring, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2016 surrounded by her family at Hartford Hospital.

Born in Hartford on August 11, 1950, daughter of the late Leo John and Hazel (Whitcom) Werth, she was raised in North Granby and lived with her family above the North Granby General Store which her parents owned and operated. Kathy attended Granby Public Schools and graduated from Granby Memorial High School with the Class of 1968. After high school, she bar tended for many years before starting her own antique business, One Step Back, which she operated with her family for 38 years. Kathy held estate sales and went to antique shows throughout New England and was very knowledgeable about many different types of antiques.

In her spare time, she enjoyed boating and fishing with her husband on Lake Champlain and vacationing there with her family. She helped her husband restore wooden boats and traveled with him to Antique and Classic Boat Society (ACBS) Shows. Kathy also enjoyed gardening around her home, watching the UConn Women's Basketball team, and looking for antiques for her personal collection.

Besides her husband, she leaves three daughters, Heather Garabedian and her husband James of Andover, Heidi Gould of East Hampton, and Amy Puncavage and her husband Robert of Leesburg, VA; a brother, William "Bill" Werth of Agawam, MA; a sister, Susan Seidman of Granby; and a granddaughter, Ashley Puncavage. She was predeceased by a brother, John Werth.

Her family will receive friends on Friday, April 29, 5-8 p.m., at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 11 a.m., at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, Granby. Burial will follow in Granby Cemetery, Granby.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St, I-91 Tech Ctr., Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
