
Patricia Ann “Pat” Chapin, 84, of Granby, beloved wife for 50 years of Norman S. Chapin, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 15, 2018, at Hartford Hospital.
Born in Stafford on January 30, 1933, daughter of the late Earl and Justine (Holmick) Clark, she was raised in Broad Brook and was a graduate of Ellsworth High School. After marrying her husband in 1967, Pat moved to Granby where she raised her family and had spent most of her life.
Pat started her career at the Aetna Insurance Company in Hartford and later worked cleaning homes in and around Granby and as child care provider for many local families. Most of all, she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening around her home, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

As a young woman, Pat enjoyed playing volleyball for many years with her friends and after her sister’s diagnosis with MS she volunteered for the local MS Society Chapter. She attended Westfield Evangelical Free Church in Westfield, MA where she enjoyed participating in the many activities within the life of the church.
Besides her husband, she leaves five children, George Byrnes and his wife Debbie of Windsor Locks, Beth Mission and her husband Skip of Granby, Mary Harman and her husband David of Simsbury, Jeffrey Byrnes and his significant other Brinda Miller of Plainfield, and Jill Chapin-Hyde and her fiancé Josh Oliver of South Windsor; 13 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Thomas.

Her family will receive friends on Saturday, January 20, 5-8 p.m., at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2 p.m., at the Westfield Evangelical Free Church, 568 Southwick Rd., Westfield, MA. A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 22, 11 a.m., at Granby Cemetery, Granby.
In memory of Pat’s devotion to helping to find a cure for MS, her family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 659 Tower Ave., 1st Floor, Hartford, CT 06112 or by visiting, www.nationalmssociety.org.
