Granby Obituary: Ruth Tepper, 83

Condolences to her family and friends.

Ruth A. Tepper, 83, of Granby, beloved wife of the late Edward Tepper, passed away, Monday, January 9, 2017.

Born in Rubyville, OH, daughter of the late Roy and Mary (Horner) Stephens, she graduated from Minford High School, Minford, OH and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Portsmouth, OH, with an affiliation with St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, MN. Her professional nursing career, included service at Mercy Hospital, OH, Receiving Hospital, MD, Good Samaritan Hospital, OH, St. Clares Hospital, NJ, and Saint Francis Hospital, Hartford.

She was an advocate for handicapped children and served as President of CT Learning Disabilities Association and served five years on the National Board of Directors. She was appointed to the CT Council on Special Education and served on the Special Education Committee of the National Catholic Education Association.

She leaves her sons John Tepper of South Windsor and Joseph Tepper of East Otis, MA; her daughter Anne Raisner of Waban, MA; nine grandchildren Amanda, Kristina, Vanessa, Tanya, Jessie, Marie, James, Jonah, and Nate; four great grandchildren Madison, Taylor, Cayden, and Kamdyn; a brother Vernon Stevens of Plains City, OH; and a sister Kathleen Bennington of Wheelsburg, OH; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Edward, who died December 16, 2016, she was predeceased by a son Edward Tepper and a daughter Susan Tepper.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 20, 2017, at 10 am directly at St. Therese Church, 120 West Granby Road, Granby FOR BOTH RUTH AND HER HUSBAND EDWARD WHO DIED DECEMBER 16, 2016, ALL ARE WELCOME. Their burials will follow in Granby Cemetery. Granby. There are no calling hours.
