Granby Obituary: S. Michael Lucash, 65

Condolences to his family and friends.

S. Michael Lucash, 65, of Granby, went to be with his Lord on June 30, 2016, after a short, but intense battle with multiple myeloma.

Michael was born in New Haven, on February 3, 1951 to Stanley and Constance (Gadue) Lucash. He was raised in Milford, and was graduate of Notre Dame High School in West Haven, Class of 1969 and Southern Connecticut State University, Class of 1973. After graduation he began a 40+ year career in consumer and commercial mortgage lending and securitization that took him around the country and ultimately back to Connecticut. His last six years he was VP of Secondary Marketing and Compliance at CT Home Mortgage, a Berkshire Hathaway company in Shelton. He was very proud of the role he played helping Mitt Romney and the Bain Capital team in Boston, MA launch the first commercial mortgage backed security in 1987 and running The Llama Company mortgage lending operations for Alice Walton (daughter of Walmart founder Sam Walton) in Fayetteville, AR.

Michael enjoyed a life-long love of swimming, starting from his first race at Milford Yacht Club, Notre Dame High School, and most recently with his grandchildren at the Granby YMCA and Wayland Swim & Tennis Club. He also spent many quiet hours reading from his vast collection of theological books and was an avid gardener.
