Granby Obituary: Treadwell Schaedel, 86

Condolences to his family and friends.

Treadwell Richard “Ted” Schaedel, 86, of Deerfield Beach, FL and Granby, beloved husband of Andrea (Allegue) Schaedel, died Friday, January 1, 2016 at Hartford Hospital.

He was born May 7, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Frank and Arabella (Wilkeson) Schaedel and had lived in Massapequa, Long Island, NY and Simsbury for many years prior to retiring to Deerfield Beach, FL. Ted was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps having been part of the first invasion of Korea in August of 1950 and was honorably discharged as Sergeant in 1952 with a Silver Star and Purple Heart. He was a graduate of New York University having received his Bachelors Degree in Finance. Mr. Schaedel was a Personal Trust Investment Banker for Bank of America for years prior to his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Simsbury and the Civitan International of Simsbury. Ted enjoyed golf and was a member of the Wednesday night league at Simsbury Farms. He also enjoyed the retired men’s luncheon club. While in Florida, he golfed twice a week at local courses with friends.

Besides his loving wife of 59 years, he is survived by his two sons, Laurence Schaedel and his wife Katrina of Granby and Dr. Robert Schaedel and his wife Loralee. His grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as “Pop Pop” include Jessica Marzi and her husband Brian, Caroline Schaedel, Alexander Schaedel and William Schaedel; his great granddaughter, Molly Marzi and his soon to be born great grandson, Treadwell Marzi; his sister-in-law, Dolores VanDoornewaard; his brother-in-law, Joseph Allegue and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Russel and Gordon.

There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be celebrated Saturday, January 16th, 11:00 AM at the First Church of Christ, 689 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. A reception will follow the service.
