
William J. Tyszka, 81, of Granby and formerly of Simsbury, beloved husband of Marilyn Tyszka for 61 years, passed away Monday, August 22, 2016.
Born in Hartford, son of the late Thomas and Mary (Vujs) Tyszka, he lived in Simsbury for 53 years, moving to Granby last year. He taught Biology and Chemistry for nearly 40 years at the Ethel Walker School, Bloomfield, Canton and Avon High Schools and the Greater Hartford Community College. Bill was active with AFSCME, 4C's, CSEA-SEIU 2001, and the ARA. Earlier this year, he received an award from the Alliance for Retired Americans, and both he and Marilyn were honored with the Nancy Benedict Award by CCAG in 2014. He was very active with the Simsbury Democratic Town Committee for many years and more recently, the Granby DTC.
Besides his beloved wife and best friend Marilyn, he leaves his children Nancy and Jay Zdun of Southwick, MA; Mark and Sally Tyszka of Windsor; his grandchildren Veronica and Tim Lynch of Southwick, MA and Valerie Zdun of Clinton, MA; and his two great granddaughters Rachel and Jacqueline Lynch. He also leaves his brothers and sister, Tom and Ruth Tyska, Pat and Fred Kask, Pete and Dee Tyszka and numerous nieces and nephews.

At his request, there will be no services; a gathering of friends to celebrate his life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Simsbury or Granby Public Library.
