Granby Police: 2 Year-Old in Critical Condition, Rt. 20 Open After Crash

The driver required extrication and was transported by Lifestar helicopter to Hartford Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

Granby Police, Fire and EMS units responded to a motor vehicle crash at 8:47 this morning on Rt. 20 at Woodcliff Road. A 2008 Pontiac sedan operated by a Kevin Ayers age 24 of East Granby was eastbound on Rt. 20, and collided with a westbound 2000 Ford armored truck operated by a Daniel Genie age 26 of Springfield, MA. Ayers required extrication from the vehicle and was transported by Lifestar helicopter to Hartford Hospital where he is listed in stable condition undergoing surgery. Landon Ayers age 2 was in a car seat in the rear of the vehicle and transported by ambulance to CCMC where he is listed in critical condition. Both Genie and a passenger in the armored car, a Christopher Rosado age 23 were transported to Hartford Hospital by ambulance with non life-threatening injuries.

The North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction team responded and assisted Granby officers with processing the scene. The roadway was reopened at 1:40 p.m. The incident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed. A quantity of currency spilled from the armored car upon impact; it was catalogued by detectives and company representatives. All was recovered and accounted for.
