Granby Police Engage in Hours-Long Standoff With Armed Man

Matthew Bromson barricaded himself in his home with a number of firearms and engaged police in an 8-hour long standoff.

On Sept. 25, Granby Police attempted to arrest a Matthew Bromson at his home on Lost Acres Road on an outstanding warrant when he barricaded himself inside the residence.

Bromson was known to possess a number of handguns and rifles, and repeatedly threatened to shoot police officers. The standoff began at approximately 6 p.m. and lasted until 2:40 a.m., more than eight hours later, after a negotiator and tactical elements of the North Central Emergency Services Team were brought in to assist.

Police say no shots were fired and no injuries occurred.

cleardot.gifBromson was charged with Threatening, Harassment, Breach of Peace and Interfering with a Police Officer. He is held in lieu of $300,000 bond and will appear in court Friday at Superior Court in Enfield.
