Granby Police Welcome 22-Year Hartford Veteran To Department

Police officials say his background in intelligence, drone operations and crisis negotiation will strengthen the department.

GRANBY, CT — The Granby Police Department is adding decades of big-city experience to its ranks.

Officer Carlos Montanez was officially sworn in this week, joining the department after a 22-year career with the Hartford Police Department, according to a social media announcement from the Granby Police Department.

During his time in Hartford, Montanez served in several specialized roles, including as an intelligence detective, drone pilot, hostage negotiator, PEER support officer, bike patrol officer and field training officer. Police officials said he also held numerous other assignments throughout his career.
