Granby Residents Advised Of Sunday Burn At Wildflower Meadow

Residents may notice smoke and increased traffic near Salmon Brook Street during the operation.

GRANBY, CT — A controlled burn at the Wildflower Meadow on Salmon Brook Street is planned for Sunday, March 29, beginning at 9 a.m., weather permitting, according to a public notice shared with residents.

The burn will be managed by the Lost Acres Fire Department and the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Officials have said prescribed burns like this are used to help native wildflower meadows stay healthy by clearing out built-up plant material, reducing invasive growth and creating conditions that allow native plants to thrive.
