Granby's Newest Business: Lily's Nail & Spa

It took a year, but Lily’s Nail & Spa finally opened last week at its location at 5 Bank St. in Granby.

“We’re doing good,” said owner Lily Lim, who has co-owned Granby Chinese in Granby Village Stores with her husband, Andy Cheng, for six years. “People have told us, ‘You do a good job. The nails stay longer.’ Every customer, when we have finished, said they were so happy, they would bring a friend.”

In addition to providing manicures and pedicures ($12 and $29, respectively, or $40 for both), the new 1,000-square-foot business also offers acupressure treatments for back, foot and hand pain through Lin’s stepson, Sky Lind.

“We do an excellent job,” Lim said. “You are so relaxed [afterward].”

Half-hour sessions for acupressure are $32, while hour-long sessions are $50.

Lily’s also offers waxing and massages.

“[It’s for] women who want to be pampered,” Lim said.

On Thursday, Lim was seen doing a manicure on Ivana Walker's nails.

"I've been waiting a year for this place to open," Walker said excitedly.

It’s just Lim and Lind who work in the business right now, though Lim said that she is currently looking for new employees.

Lim said she was waiting for the business to grow through word of mouth for the first couple of weeks before she started doing formal advertising.

For now, though, she is enjoying her time in Granby with her husband and her businesses.

“I like it very much,” said Lim, who lived in Brooklyn, New York, before moving to Connecticut. “[Granby is] quiet country.”

Lily’s Nail and Spa is located at 5 Bank St. in the shopping center in Granby. It’s hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
