There is a petition circulating by the townspeople of Granby, particularly parents and families of graduating seniors. These Granby/Hartland taxpayers are asking that the school, the administration and the Board of Education allow the graduation to take place at the $3.2 million stadium that the administration and school Board of Education pushed for. I believe the argument at the time was that this facility was going to be for all of the townspeople! Now for some unknown reason, the parents and families are getting pushback stating that the new principal wants to see how things were done in the past? What? This $3.2 million stadium was built for the kids! Let's not forget that. As a parent of a graduated student who attended ceremonies last year, we had to stand back well over 100 feet, trying to catch a glimpse of our graduates, all the while looking around people's heads in front of us, and for the shorter people, standing on chairs. This facility affords a luxury of stadium seating. The other argument is that it would be difficult for senior citizens to climb the stairs. Perhaps the Board of Education could afford the opportunity for senior citizens to have special seating where they may not have to climb stairs or, I believe handicapped access should have and was afforded to the stadium seating. These kids will graduate high school once. Shouldn't we ask Mr Addley to do what's right for the students and the taxpayers of Granby/Hartland?
