Holiday House Tour Was Well Attended by Granby Residents
Five Salmon Brook Street homes were open to the public, many for the first time.
This past Saturday, Granby's main thoroughfare, Salmon Brook Street, was brimming with holiday walking traffic!
The Salmon Brook Historical Society featured a Holiday House Tour of five gracious antique homes along the venerable old roadway.
The homeowners prepared their properties with festive decor and in many cases delicious food to treat those that took the trek.

From 10 a.m. until a little past 3 p.m., over 200 visitors were treated with guided and self-guided tours of homes that some confessed they had wanted to see the inside of for years. Many took advantage of the proximity of the homes and parked at the Salmon Brook Historical Society to make the hike, stopping regularly all along the way. The Truman Gillet B&B was also open to the public at 151 North Granby Road.
Special music included flute solos at Daniel & Jennifer Wilson's home, the South Church Bell Choir performed in John and Kathy Morgan's 18th century barn while the Granby High Choral Singers caroled down the street stopping at each tour home to share their seasonal favorites.

Many of the homes had their proud owners as guides in addition to volunteers from the community and the Historical Society.
We were all blessed with wonderful December weather with highs in the 40s and no wind. The sunshine came pouring through the windows of the tour homes and made the holiday decor bright and cheery. The residents of the Street were devastated by the October nor'easter and many worried the house tour would be affected but that was not to be the case.
The tour this year was chaired by Bill Ross, the owner of the Dutch Iris Inn. His work and the work of the entire committee was appreciated by all who attended and who volunteered. The Christmas house tour has become one of the favorite events for Granby during the holiday season.
