With schools back in session throughout the state, East Catholic High School has teamed up with the Connecticut State Police and two area businesses to remind teenagers and adults about the perils of texting while driving.

The Silent Partner, a Manchester-based marketing firm, and Monaco Ford of Glastonbury worked with the school and state troopers to produce this short, powerful video illustrating the dangers of distracted driving.

Texting while driving is one of the leading causes of car accidents, which is why there is a primary law that makes this activity illegal in Connecticut. All drivers, including adult, novice and school bus drivers, are prohibited from texting while driving.

Additionally, drivers under the age of 18 are not allowed to text or talk on a hand-held cell phone. Unlike adult drivers, novice drivers can’t use hands-free cell phones. Novice drivers are also prohibited from using any other electronic device while behind the wheel. This is also a primary law.
